ConFest is entirely volunteer and community created. That means no one gets paid to organise the festival.

Online ConFest is a lot like setting up a small digital community for a few days and then packing it down again, so most of the skills and understandings we each have from our day to day personal and working lives, are very much needed for it happen.

Every adult at ConFest is asked to contribute a minimum of two hours of their time as part of their ticket price. This is part of what makes everyone’s ConFest experience fair and equitable. It also helps to create an active community, a village and keeps ticket prices low.

 

If you see a NEED and you can fulfill it, feel free to take the initiative to DO IT.

We encourage you to help out and spend your energy where you see fit. Your hours won’t be documented (unless you’d like to apply for DTE active membership), so if you find yourself near something that needs fixing or someone who needs helping, feel free to jump in! This helps create happy organic nature of Confest.

To contribute your 2 hours, you don’t need to fill out the application form. Simply turn up at the Info tent and enquire about where you can help!

Many people find that they are given endless gifts and truly significant experiences at each ConFest. This leads to them to want to contribute in a more significant way, to ensure that more and more people can also reap the benefits of this amazing spontaneous community that they know and love!

The minimum two hours volunteering is part of the ticket price, but some people feel that they would like to contribute more.

 

Becoming a Core Volunteer at ConFest and helping before the festival is on

Can you do 24 hours in a year?

Volunteer hours are valid only for roles that that essential to having a festival run. Anything beyond this (workshops, performances etc) are gifted as part of creating the active community that is ConFest. You don't need to do anything 'official' to run a workshop, just turn up, write it on the workshop board in the info tent and run it! 

You only need to fill in a volunteer form if you'd like to volunteer more than 24 hours in the online team to help put on the online space

There are different kinds of volunteering you can do

1 - Volunteering during the festival

2 - Volunteering for the Set up and/or the Wind Down the week before and after the festival

3 - Website Working bees and other Tek Tools during the year in between festivals

4 - The organisation in between festivals; i.e. paperwork, community building, communications etc… things we can do from home.

 

Contributing more than 24 hours of your time to Confest over 12 months grants you a discounted volunteer ticket to ConFest when it returns and makes you eligible to become a DTE active member. This allows you to vote at Confest committee meetings and at DTE General meetings.
