ConFest is about peace, love and herbal tea.

Uncertainty Village is about peace, love, any tea, and science. This is a space intended as a hub for conversations that are grounded in rationality and the scientific method.

What’s this “scientific method”?

Well, it’s easy to fool ourselves when we go looking for proof that our ideas are right. Here at UV we think the best way to understand the world is by trying to prove that our ideas are WRONG. If we can prove them wrong (through experiments and observations) then we try to find better ideas, and find ways to prove them wrong too. Repeat this process often enough and we’re left with a few ideas that haven’t been proven wrong YET. If enough people’s experiments don’t say we’re wrong - well, PERHAPS we’re right!

ConFest has lots of space for things like astrology, alternative medicine, and spirituality. Uncertainty Village aims to be a focal point for things like astrophysics, biochemistry, and psychology. We welcome all discussions about the wonders and mysteries of the universe we live in, as long as everyone involved maintains some healthy uncertainty about their own ideas.
