ConFest has few rules and all rules are safety orientated.
To keep ConFest safe the following guidelines are expected and enforced:
No touching without permission, NO means NO!
No photography without permission, NO means NO!
No fires outside cooking circles (e.g. cookers, candles, incense, mozzie coils)
No vehicle traffic after dark except site and emergency vehicles.
If they don't stop say NO louder and louder until someone else notices.
Please stop and offer help if you believe someone else is in distress.
Report the incident to First Aid as soon as possible.
First Aid will then provide practical and emotional assistance through the Wellness team. This team is available 24hours a day.
The wellness team is made up of people with experience in counselling, social work, nursing etc.
The aim of the wellness team is to provide crisis intervention and is not counselling service.
The Wellness team will:
Provide a place of safety
Provide crisis intervention
Provide resources for support post ConFest
The wellness team attempt to provide gender appropriate assistance where ever possible (defined by the person requesting help).
The Wellness team will not:
Breach your privacy* by disclosing you information to a third party (including the Police) without your permission
Ask you detailed questions about the event or take a statement
You may be asked to:
State the nature of the incident
Describe and if possible identify the alleged offender.
This information is then provided to the duty Director for formal action.
*The organisers of ConFest have a duty to care which requires them to contact police where mandatory reporting criteria exist. The First aid Coordinators and Doctors are trained in mandatory reporting and undertake this responsibility on behalf of the organisers.
